[ Spock can't remember the circumstances that lead him to this moment, waking up in the medbay and feeling weak beyond reason. A search through his memories doesn't gather much information. They had come upon an uninhabited M-class planet, similar to Earth in atmosphere and temperature and life. Spock lead an away mission to the surface to study the local flora (which was familiar to what they've encountered in the past) and the fauna (which was remarkably unfamiliar).

He recalls a creature, far too fast for its size and closing in... but he doesn't remember any attack. In fact, he doesn't remember anything at all from that moment.

So, at a loss, he finally blinks his eyes open to the harsh medbay lighting, not even sure of how much time has passed since he was awake last. There's a smell - not the sterile environment but something sweet - but he follows the scent only to find someone beside his bed that he hadn't noticed until now. Sure, he's not in a great position, but that feels a bit like a failure. ]
